Associate Buyer/Purchasing Coordinator

The primary function of the Associate Buyer / Purchasing Coordinator is to purchase requirements in their assigned commodities to meet quality and delivery requirements as well as looking for potential saving opportunities. This position will also monitor open orders across commodities including shipments, deliveries and schedules to ensure dates are achieved. This position is a 40+ hours position.

Responsibilities:

  • Quoting, negotiating and order placement of assigned commodities
  • Implementation of cost saving strategies / volume discounts etc.
  • Monitor and expedite open orders and delivery requirements
  • Coordinate nonconforming / deviation request with quality control and engineering
  • Supplier development.
  • Marketing quotation support.
  • Maintain current delivery dates in Job Boss system
  • Support Inventory validation / cycle counting and maintenance 
  • Assigned commodities:
    • Purchase daily MRO supplies for shop 
    • Purchase Catalog hardware and products.
    • Purchase Data, nameplates and engraving.
    • Inspections, testing and calibration
  • Travel to supplier locations for expediting surveillance 
  • Manage yearly calibration orders
  • Other purchasing related tasks as required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred
  • High School Graduate

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Purchasing in a mechanical environment 
  • Strong organizational, communication and computer skills required
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Required
  • Know how to create and review contracts
  • JobBOSS a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing, Materials management and planning 
  • Experienced in procuring, expediting and managing: Raw Material, MRO, Stampings, Engraving, Pipe and fittings as well as many other industrial items.

Other Information:

  • The position will be based full time in our Bethlehem, PA facility.
  • Travel time expected.
  • This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40+ hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends may be required based on project needs.
  • This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Ability to professionally handle stressful situations.
  • Able to understand, read, write and speak English.
  • Outgoing personality to interact with entire company and customers.
  • Organization skills to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to legally work in the US and provide proper documentation.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of times, able to reach above head, bend and stand.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug, alcohol test and background check.
  • Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.

Work Environment:

Office Environment on a regular basis. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may perform work in a shop environment and will be exposed to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise and metal particles.
